Changes to services and opening times over Christmas and the New Year

Anti-social behaviour reporting

The anti-social behaviour (ASB) out of hours response service will change over the festive period. The quickest and easiest way to report is online via our ASB web page. If you are unable to report online, please phone on 020 7527 7272.

Islington Town Hall closure

The Town Hall building will be closed to residents for three days in the new year, from Thursday 2 to Monday 6 January 2025, as we carry out some essential electrical works.

Please do not visit the Town Hall during this time.

Christmas tree recycling

Please put your real tree with the rest of your recycling on your property on your recycling collection day or take it to one of our drop-off points between Tuesday 2 January and Sunday 14 January.

Your recycling collection day may take place a day later due to the Christmas break. Check the recycling and rubbish collections information on this page.

Parking

Free Christmas vouchers are available for residents in the Islington Life magazine and are available as a PDF. They are not valid for use in the estates.

Enforcement

Wednesday 25 December (Christmas Day) and Thursday 26 December 2024 (Boxing Day)

24-hour offences such as double yellow lines, footway, double parking, pedestrian crossing zig-zags, dedicated disabled bays and doctor's bays. Moving traffic violations, bus lanes and estate parking will be enforced as normal.

Friday 27 December 2024

Normal enforcement with additional match day controls - free vouchers for residents for parking in permit or shared use permit bays on street only. Free Vouchers are not valid for use in the estates. These vouchers are also not valid in zones which have additional match day restrictions during the hours of 6.30pm and 8.30pm. Moving traffic violations, bus lanes and estate parking will be enforced as normal.

Saturday 28 December 2024

Normal enforcement with free vouchers for residents for parking in permit or shared use permit bays on street only. Free vouchers are not valid for use in the estates. Moving traffic violations, bus lanes and estate parking will be enforced as normal. 

Sunday 29 December 2024

Normal Sunday enforcement with 24-hour offences such as double yellow lines, footway, double parking, pedestrian crossing zig-zags, dedicated disabled bays and doctors’ bays. Moving traffic violations, bus lanes and estate parking will be enforced as normal.

Enforcement

Estate parking

Parks

Parks will be open for use throughout the festive season.

The gate locking/opening service will change as follows. The gates on all our parks will remain unlocked from Tuesday 24 December until 5pm on 27 December and again from 31 December until 5pm on Thursday 2 January.

There will be no park keepers in attendance from 3pm of the 24th December until 2nd January. All sports areas will be open and free to use with no bookings possible.

Recycling and rubbish collections

We will continue to collect waste and recycling over the Christmas period. Depending on your usual collection day, your collection may take place a day later than usual. Check the table below to see if your collection day is affected.

This also applies to garden waste and food waste collections, both will be collected a day later than your usual collection.

Collections will be back to normal from Saturday 4 January 2025 onwards.
