Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) price increase

All London Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) will be increasing from Monday 7 April 2025. PCNs are designed to deter anti-social and obstructive parking, reduce congestion and make London’s streets clearer and safer.

Payments unavailable on Tuesday 8 April, 9.30am-4.30pm

You will not be able to make any online payments on Tuesday 8 April, 9.30am-4.30pm while we carry out essential maintenance.

This will affect all online payments, including parking permits, parking tickets (PCNs), council tax and rent payments. You will also not be able to make payments using our automated payment line 020 7527 8000 or by calling 020 7527 2000.

If you need to make a payment, please try again after 4.30pm on Tuesday. We are sorry for any inconvenience while we carry out this essential work.

Suspend a parking bay

Apply to temporarily stop anyone being able to use a parking bay or multiple parking bays, for example for maintenance work, construction, filming or special events.

A parking bay may be a large stretch of parking area and it may contain multiple parking spaces. We can only suspend parking spaces on the public highway.

We cannot suspend yellow lines, zebra crossings or keep clear areas. The council is not responsible for suspensions on red routes, or private roads.

Day 2, day 3, and any extra days exclude Sundays and bank holidays.

Each parking space is 5 metres.

Day 2 £60 per space
Day 3 and additional days £65 per space, per day

Day 2 £80 per space

Advanced warning notices

We display notices to give advance warning to other parking users before a suspension begins.

Where possible, these notices will be displayed on streets for residential parking with 10 days' notice.

How much notice to give

If you do not give the required amount of notice, there is an additional administration fee of £100. This is at the discretion of the reviewing suspensions officer and your request may be declined.

  • For Pay By Phone parking bays, you must apply at least 10 days before you want the suspension to begin.
  • For all other types of parking bay, you must apply at least 14 days before you want the suspension to begin.
  • If you’re applying for an extension, you must apply and pay at least 4 working days before the current suspension ends.

How to apply

Before you apply:

  • If you want to suspend parking bays for a community event, funeral or wedding, you may need to contact us first. Check what you need to do for community events, funerals, and weddings and other useful information.
  • A parking bay can contain multiple spaces. You must only suspend the number of spaces you need.
  • You will be asked to upload information about the parking space or spaces you want to suspend. Please prepare this information before starting the application to make sure you give us all the relevant information. We need to know the exact locations and recommend you provide a screenshot of a map, such as our parking map. This will help us process your application quickly.
  • If you are applying for multiple parking suspensions, you can complete the online application once but please upload information about all the exact locations, dates and times of the suspensions.
  • Read the terms and conditions.
