Blue Badge exemption permit to drive in your low-traffic neighbourhood

Find out how to apply for an exemption permit to drive in the low traffic neighbourhood you live in if you have a Blue Badge.

If you are a Blue Badge holder and live in a low-traffic neighbourhood (LTN) in Islington, you may be able to apply for a permit that lets you drive in your LTN area at any time.

Who can apply

You can apply for an LTN permit if you:

  • are a Blue Badge holder living within an LTN
  • have access to a vehicle that you use for travel

The permit can be used for one vehicle that must either be registered to your address or be nominated as a vehicle that you often use for transport.

How it works

The LTN permit is online, so you don’t need to display anything in your car.

The permit means your registered vehicle can drive through traffic filters in your home LTN when the driver or passenger is the Blue Badge holder.

If the Blue Badge holder is not driving or isn't a passenger in the vehicle when it goes through a traffic filter, we will send you a moving traffic ticket (a penalty charge notice or PCN).

How to apply

If you already have a parking account:

  1. sign in to your account
  2. click 'apply for a permit'
  3. choose 'Low Traffic Neighbourhood LTN permit' and follow the steps to add your vehicle proof
  4. it will show you have one under 'view my permits' when it says 'active'

Sign in now

If you don't have a parking account:

  1. register for one first
  2. click 'contact us' on the left-hand side of the screen under 'my account'
  3. choose 'contact Blue Badge Team'
  4. tell us you want to add your Blue Badge and include the first six digits of your Blue Badge number

How to change your vehicle or address

Update your vehicle details

You must update your vehicle details in your parking account if you change your registered vehicle. That includes for short times, such as if you get a courtesy vehicle while your usual one is being repaired.

Let us know about your new address

You must let us know if you move into, out of, or to a new address in Islington. Don't update the address in your parking account yourself - we need to do it for you so we can update your permit.

  1. Sign in to your parking account
  2. Click ‘contact us'
  3. Choose 'contact Blue Badge Team'
  4. Tell us you need to change your address and include your new address, and upload photo proof of your address such as a bill for your new address or other official document like a tenancy agreement
