Graffiti

How we are tackling the problem of graffiti and how you can help us by reporting it.

Penalties for graffiti

The police or any of our authorised officers can issue a fixed penalty notice of £500 for graffiti offences.

It is criminal damage and can mean a maximum prison sentence of 10 years.

It can also have a bad impact on people whose neighbourhoods, parks and property are affected by graffiti. Every year, we spend thousands of pounds of taxpayer money to remove it.

Report graffiti

We work with the police and others to find and prosecute graffiti offenders. You can help us to tackle the issue by reporting it.

You can report it by:

  • downloading the Love Clean Streets app to your phone from Google Play or the Apple store
  • logging into your My Islington account or signing up if you do not have an account so you can track your reports and access more services, like council tax
  • reporting privately on the Love Clean Streets website - you will not be able to track your report if you choose this option

Removing offensive graffiti

All offensive graffiti, such as abusive and racist graffiti, will be removed within 24 hours. Most other graffiti will be removed within 5 working days.
