A new state of the art play building at Cornwallis Adventure Playground

Cornwallis Adventure Playground is one of Islington’s most popular adventure playground sites and has been a key provider of play opportunities within the borough for over 45 years.

Over the past couple of months, we’ve been working hard on the design of a new adventure play building at Cornwallis Adventure Playground. The new building will use sustainable construction methods and materials and will replace a run-down timber log cabin that has fallen into disrepair. It will support and encourage free play for children in the area by creating a light, bright and healthy indoor play environment.

During the project’s development, a series of workshops with users and operators of the Adventure Playground have been carried out. We also invited local residents and members of the public to an online event in March and we would like to thank everyone that participated, the response was positive and the feedback has been really helpful.

These workshops and events helped us develop the proposal which was key to the preparation of the recent pre-application, successfully submitted in March. We are now developing the design for a full planning application which we hope to submit towards the end of June.

Before this happens we will be carrying out another round of engagement and holding a second online event open to local residents and members of the public and would encourage anyone with an interest in the project to attend. It will be a great opportunity to update everyone on the designs, answer questions and take on board feedback before submitting the full planning application at the end of the month.

We want you to be a part of the conversation so please join us at the online event at 5pm on 18 June.
