Islington Council-managed nurseries

All our council-managed nurseries are situated in purpose-built spaces, maintained to a high standard. As well as stimulating, well resourced, and inviting areas inside, children have direct access to beautiful outdoor play spaces which provide so many benefits for learning and wellbeing.

Our nurseries are teacher-led and operate with higher qualifications amongst staff than the minimum requirements within the Early Years Foundation Stage because we know this makes a difference to children’s outcomes. Experienced and well-qualified staff have the skills and knowledge to provide child-centred, inclusive early learning. Four of our nurseries currently have an outstanding Ofsted judgement.

Islington has a long history of investing in high-quality nursery provision for children aged 6 months to 4 years. We subsidise our nurseries to enable them to operate a progressive charging model for our childcare places. Charges are on a sliding scale based on household income to make childcare more affordable for Islington parents who are working or studying. For further information about all the nurseries subsidised by Islington Council, visit our directory
